A TV on the wall is one of two jobs. Either there is framing where the bracket needs to go, and it takes an hour. Or there is not, and the honest answer is backing — a piece of timber let into the wall behind the drywall so the bracket has something to hold. Drywall anchors alone hold a television until the day they do not.
Most calls are the first kind. Bring the TV, the bracket and the box it came in, and I will find the studs, get it level, and put the cables somewhere you cannot see them.

What it costs to get wrong
A bracket into drywall anchors will hold for months and then let go at once, usually taking a fist-sized piece of wall with it and landing the screen face-down. The repair costs more than the mounting did. This is the single most common thing I get called to fix after someone else has been.

Straight answers
- Do you supply the mount?
- You can, or I can pick one up on the way — tell me the screen size and whether you want it to tilt or swing out. Bringing your own is usually cheaper.
- Can it go over the fireplace?
- Usually, but I will check what the mantel does to the heat and how far the screen has to come out to be watchable. Sometimes the honest answer is that it will be a bad seat.
- Can you hide the cables inside the wall?
- On a standard interior wall, yes. On an exterior or a masonry wall a raceway painted to match is the sane answer, and it looks better than the alternative.
