Most of these are a straight swap: old fixture down, new one up on the same box, half an hour. The two that are not are ceiling fans and anything heavy over a stairwell.
A fan cannot hang off a standard light box. It needs a fan-rated brace, because a light sits still and a fan spends its life trying to walk itself out of the ceiling. Fitting one is the difference between a fan that is silent and a fan that develops a wobble in a year.

- I bought the fixture online. Will you fit it?
- Yes, that is most of these. Have the box open and the parts counted before I arrive and it goes faster.
- Can a fan go where a light is now?
- Usually, but the box has to be changed for a fan-rated one. From below that is a small job. I will tell you which it is when I see the photo.
- Two storeys up in the entry?
- That is a ladder job and it is fine. The chandelier in the photos above came down and went back up in a double-height entry.
